Ashchurch Park Villas Studio

London W12

This small studio building in the corner of our clients' garden provides a home office and guest accommodation. The plan resolves the sharp triangular corner of the garden and responds to a newly planted pear tree. The cavity wall construction is expressed as an outer protective layer around the inner leaf with a further cosy inner timber lining. Outside there is a bird bath whilst a lantern allows you to find your way there from the house in the evening darkness. A rooflight brings light into the deep plan and has shutters to provide blackout when the studio is being used as a bedroom. The project has been granted planning consent and will commence on site in 2013.
